The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allocation of over 424 acres of land in Kadapa district to facilitate an integrated steel plant by JSW Steel. The Karnataka government has approved industrial investment proposals worth INR 4,824.31 crore across 37 new projects and two expansion proposals during the 158th meeting of the State Level Single Window Approval Committee. The projects are expected to generate about 14,525 employment opportunities across 13 districts including Vijayapura, Bagalkote, Chitradurga, Kolar and Ramanagara. According to the state industries department, the approved investments cover a range of sectors such as IT infrastructure, technical textiles, compressed biogas, aerospace, electronics manufacturing, jewellery production, software services and hospitality development. Of the total approvals, 22 large and medium projects involve investments exceeding INR 50 crore, while 15 projects fall in the INR 15-50 crore range. Bengaluru-based real estate developer Brigade Enterprises Ltd has announced its entry into the industrial real estate segment with the launch of a 25-acre industrial park in Devanahalli, North Bengaluru. A Liberia-flagged oil tanker, Shenlong, carrying Saudi Arabian crude oil arrived in Mumbai after safely crossing the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit route that has been under heightened security concerns. The vessel transported about 135,335 metric tonnes of crude and docked at the Jawahar Dweep terminal off Mumbai's coast for unloading. The shipment is considered significant as it was among the first crude deliveries to India through the strait after regional tensions disrupted shipping activity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched and dedicated infrastructure and energy projects worth around INR 5,650 crore in Tamil Nadu. The initiatives include a large city gas distribution network, a lubricant manufacturing facility, rural road projects and new railway services. The facility is proposed in Madanapalle and will function as an integrated green freight hub supporting heavy commercial vehicle electrification. The development will include a manufacturing unit for EV chargers, a retrofit facility for converting heavy vehicles to electric powertrains and a research and development centre focused on validation and certification. Solex Energy has received approval under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework for its 3.78-gigawatt solar module manufacturing facility in Surat, Gujarat. The listing confirms that the company's solar modules meet the government's quality and reliability standards for use in domestic solar projects. The ALMM mechanism is aimed at strengthening India's solar manufacturing ecosystem and ensuring energy security. Torrent Power has raised INR 2,000 crore through the issuance of non-convertible debentures (NCDs) on a private placement basis, according to a regulatory filing. The company issued 2,00,000 debentures with a face value of INR 1 lakh each. These debentures are secured, rated, listed, taxable, non-cumulative, redeemable, and non-convertible, carrying a coupon rate of 7.97 per cent per annum. Fundraising through NCDs is commonly used by companies to strengthen liquidity and support expansion plans. Torrent Power has previously used similar debt instruments to finance its power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.Read more

The Haryana government has initiated plans to develop waste-to-energy (WTE) facilities in several major cities as part of efforts to improve municipal solid waste management and reduce reliance on landfill dumping. The Karnataka government is in discussions with multiple companies to establish new industrial projects in the northern districts of Vijayapura and Bagalkote as part of efforts to reduce regional imbalances in development. State Industries Minister M B Patil informed the Legislative Council that the state's 2025-30 industrial policy continues the 'Beyond Bengaluru' strategy aimed at promoting investment outside the capital. The government is currently in talks with around nine to ten companies for potential projects in the region. Among the developments, a Reliance Industries facility at Kembhavi is scheduled to begin construction soon and is expected to generate about 1,600 jobs. NTPC Green Energy has announced the commissioning of a 250 MW solar photovoltaic project in Andhra Pradesh through Ayana Kadapa Renewable Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green. Ramky Infrastructure Limited has secured an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract worth about INR 1,401.84 crore from Maharashtra Industrial Township Limited for infrastructure development at the Dighi Port Industrial Area in Raigad district, Maharashtra. The project is part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor initiative and covers the creation of core industrial infrastructure such as roads, water supply networks, drainage systems, sewerage facilities, power distribution and ICT utilities. The construction period is 930 days, after which the company will operate and maintain the developed infrastructure for four years, with a possible extension period.Read more

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK) has signed a licence agreement with East Horizon Pvt Ltd to develop a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) at the Haldia Dock Complex with an investment of around INR 260 crore. The agreement, executed on March 6, is aimed at strengthening liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure in eastern India and supporting the region's transition towards cleaner energy sources. The proposed facility will enable the import, storage and regasification of LNG before supplying it into onshore pipelines for distribution. Port officials said the project is expected to enhance LNG handling capabilities at Haldia while contributing to the national objective of increasing the share of natural gas in India's energy mix.
