The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation carried out a demolition drive against unauthorised sheds in Turbhe after the occupants ignored prior notices. Under instructions from Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde and supervision by Additional Commissioner Dr Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner Dr Kailas Gaikwad, the encroachment department undertook the operation. A team comprising local civic officers, security personnel, and police officials ensured the removal was carried out smoothly using 21 labourers and a JCB machine.Read more

The Bombay High Court has rejected a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the use of Mumbai's salt pan land for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project. The bench, headed by Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Arif Doctor, ruled that no evidence supported the claim that the land was environmentally sensitive or legally restricted. The judges stated that governmental approvals had already been secured for its use, with no legal bar cited under existing urban planning laws. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started work on a 1.2 km stretch of the Coastal Road Project's second phase in Goregaon, Mumbai. This section lies outside the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ). The north phase of the project, connecting Versova to Bhayandar, encompasses elevated roads and twin tunnels, with most of its area within CRZ limits. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) transports an average of 1.7 tonnes of waste daily to six plasma incineration facilities. This initiative aims for safe disposal of items like diapers and medicines, which can contaminate other waste. Despite generating 80-100 tonnes daily, the current collection is a fraction. Slum dwellers in Malad, Mumbai, have been relocated to Permanent Transit Camp (PTC) homes to make way for completing a crucial 550-meter road link from Shankar Lane to New Link Road.
