IndiGo has expanded its domestic network from Navi Mumbai International Airport by announcing new routes and additional frequencies to strengthen regional connectivity. The airline will start daily flights to Coimbatore and Chennai from 29 December 2025, introduce five-times-weekly flights to Vadodara from 30 December 2025, and increase flights to North Goa to five a week from 26 December 2025. These additions build on IndiGo's earlier launches from the newly opened airport, which is gradually becoming an important secondary aviation hub for the Mumbai region. Treebo Hospitality Ventures (THV) stated earlier this week that it had signed a 72-key Mercure hotel in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, as part of its ongoing master franchise arrangement with Accor and InterGlobe. The company noted that the SIDCUL industrial area's expanding economic footprint has been driving stronger demand for dependable mid-market accommodation. THV's leadership indicated that the collaboration with Accor would combine Mercure's brand strengths with Treebo's operational efficiency. Antara Senior Care, part of the USD 7-billion Max Group, has expanded its presence in Bengaluru with a new 80-bed senior care home in Whitefield, increasing its total capacity in the city to about 163 beds. The new centre strengthens Antara's assisted living and transition care services, backed by geriatric-trained teams and round-the-clock clinical support. Bengaluru's ageing population, changing family structures, and growing demand for organised senior care have contributed to the need for such facilities. Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) announced earlier this week that it had signed a 78-key brownfield hotel under its Gateway brand in Patnitop, Jammu and Kashmir. The company stated that the new resort, set to become the largest in the destination, is expected to cater to rising leisure demand from Punjab, Delhi NCR and Jammu. IHCL indicated that the development strengthens its strategy of growing the Gateway brand in prominent Himalayan leisure markets. India's retail sector saw a strong festive boost, with sales rising 11% during the 87-day GST Bachat Mahotsav period from August to October, according to the Retailers Association of India. Value-driven categories performed best, with apparel and footwear under INR 2,500-taxed at 12%-showing higher demand, while premium apparel above INR 2,500 in the 18% GST slab saw softer momentum. Food & Grocery, Jewellery and Footwear grew 12%, followed by Sports Goods at 11%. West India led regional growth at 13%. Quick Service Restaurants and furniture also performed well. RAI said the initiative improved price awareness and helped retailers better plan inventory, pricing and customer strategies.Read more
