Average home sizes increase 17 per cent across top seven Indian cities

24 Feb 2026

Average apartment sizes across India's seven largest residential markets have grown by about 17 per cent over the past two years, according to real estate data compiled by industry consultants. The increase reflects a shift towards larger configurations and a growing emphasis on spacious living as demand for premium housing strengthens. Data shows average unit size across these cities expanded from around 1,420 sq ft in 2023 to roughly 1,676 sq ft in 2025, with an 8 per cent rise over the past year alone. Growth patterns vary by city, with regions such as the National Capital Region recording the highest gains, while others like Kolkata have exhibited relatively modest increases. Analysts attribute the trend to changing buyer preferences for bigger homes, particularly in markets where higher-end supply has expanded. The rise in average sizes forms part of broader shifts in urban housing demand, with larger layouts increasingly featured in new launches and project planning.Read more

Delhivery and NVIDIA partner to build AI-powered mapping solutions tailored to India

24 Feb 2026

Indian logistics firm Delhivery has entered a strategic collaboration with global chipmaker NVIDIA to develop advanced AI-powered mapping and location intelligence solutions specifically designed for India's complex geography and non-standardised addressing systems. Unveiled at a major AI summit, the initiative combines Delhivery's proprietary dataset built from billions of shipments with NVIDIA's accelerated computing stack and open AI models to create scalable, locally relevant digital maps. The partnership aims to improve last-mile delivery accuracy by resolving address ambiguities and interpreting vernacular, landmark-based directions that often challenge conventional global mapping platforms. Executives said this India-centric mapping infrastructure could support more efficient logistics, e-commerce and supply-chain operations as the country's digital economy grows. Development will draw on technologies such as CV-CUDA and Nemotron models, tailored for the unique demands of Indian addresses and terrain.Read more

Delhi to expand biomedical waste treatment capacity with new facilities

Delhi News Desk

24 Feb 2026

The Delhi government has unveiled plans to strengthen the city's biomedical waste management infrastructure by establishing additional Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facilities (CBWTFs) to address rising volumes of medical refuse and improve operational coverage across districts. The initiative, announced by the Environment Minister following a high-level review, involves setting up new treatment plants on sites of at least 0.5 acre each and equipped with modern technology to process waste through autoclaving, shredding and secure landfilling. The proposed facilities are expected to handle about 46 tonnes per day, easing pressure on the two existing plants that currently serve the entire capital. Tenders will be floated soon to attract operators with advanced systems, with each new facility intended to serve clusters of three districts to decentralise and improve efficiency in waste disposal. Officials have linked the expansion to broader public health and environmental goals in the city as biomedical waste generation continues to grow.Read more
