The fines were imposed between April and December last year as part of a sanitation enforcement drive using the Comprehensive Challan Management System (CCMS) mobile application. Civic officials used the digital platform to record violations and issue penalties for 11 categories of sanitation offences, including roadside littering, improper disposal of construction and demolition waste, and failure by commercial establishments to maintain waste bins. Daily penalties collected during the drive ranged between INR 75,000 and INR 1 lakh. Government approves 104 projects worth INR 271 crore to advance 6G research under Telecom Technology Development Fund

The central government has approved 104 research and development projects worth INR 271 crore to support the development of 6G technology under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF). In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha earlier this week, Minister of State for Telecom Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani said the initiatives form part of the Bharat 6G Mission, which aims to position India among global leaders in sixth-generation telecom technology by 2030. The government had earlier released the Bharat 6G Vision Document outlining a roadmap for research, development and deployment of next-generation networks. In addition, 100 5G Use Case Labs have been established in academic institutions across the country to help students, researchers and startups develop applications and capabilities that will support future 6G networks and related digital infrastructure.Read more

Seven labourers die after soil mound collapses at Signature Global construction site in Gurugram

Seven labourers lost their lives and four others were injured after a mound of soil collapsed at a construction site of a residential project by Signature Global in Gurugram. The incident occurred while workers were carrying out excavation work for a Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP). Around 12-15 labourers were trapped when the soil suddenly caved in. Rescue teams from the police, SDRF and NDRF carried out operations and pulled out the workers, who were taken to a hospital in Bhiwadi. Ranchi Municipal Corporation mandates licensing for hostels, lodges and banquet halls, warns of sealing action for non-compliance
